Production & Repair
Winter in July jewellery is made with precious metals such as sterling silver, yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold. The precious metals are supplied by Morris and Watson, which is a bullion and casting company located in Auckland, New Zealand.
Our jewellery is nickel-free. We use 9ct, 14ct, and 18ct yellow and rose gold, plus 9ct and 18ct white gold. We don’t use 14ct white gold because it contains nickel. We typically don’t rhodium-plate our white gold; it contains palladium and has a beautiful natural hue. If you prefer a brighter, rhodium-plated finish, please email us to request it.
Precious gemstones are sourced from reputable gemstone suppliers in New Zealand.
For more info, please see the sustainability section.
We work with precious metals such as sterling silver, yellow gold, rose gold and white gold. If you want any of our design made with gold instead of sterling silver, or made with higher carat gold (e.g. 18ct gold instead of 9ct), we can definitely do it. We can also work with platinum.
We are unable to make jewellery in stainless steel, titanium, copper or brass.

Yes — we do offer custom design work, with a minimum spend of $1,000.
Custom pieces are best suited to meaningful, long-term jewellery such as engagement rings, wedding bands, or special commemorative designs.
If you have a design idea in mind, feel free to reach out and we can chat about what might be possible.
At this stage, we don’t offer remodelling services or work with clients’ existing jewellery, gemstones, or gold.
Working with pre-owned materials would require testing the gold caratage and carefully assessing any gemstones. As we don’t have in-house testing equipment, we’re unable to guarantee the quality or structural integrity of externally sourced materials. There is also a risk of damage when remelting previously worked gold.
To ensure the highest quality in our pieces, all scrap metal and filings from our studio are sent to a trusted refinery rather than remelted in-house.
Yes, very secure. The gemstones are set by qualified gemstone setters.
Others
We don’t run Black Friday or Boxing Day sales — our pieces are handcrafted in small batches or made to order, so we don’t carry overstock to discount. With gold and silver prices continuing to rise, we review pricing regularly to reflect material costs.
However, we do have a loyalty rewards program where you can earn points and redeem them towards future purchases.
Afterpay is available for orders up to $4,000, depending on your individual Afterpay spending limit.
Gemstone pieces over $1,500 and plain gold or silver pieces over $2,000 come with a store certificate, which includes details of the piece and photos, and it is usually sufficient for insurance purposes. If your insurance policy requires a valuation, we can organise a valuation done by an independent valuer.
Winter in July jewellery is stocked in stores around New Zealand. Please see the list of stockists.
If you want to see items that are not stocked in stores or discuss custom design ideas, we can make an appointment.
We're based in Albany, Auckland.
